The iconic collaboration we never saw coming!

Today, Selena Gomez announced a totally unexpected collaboration with TikTok’s favourite sisters, Charli and Dixie D’Amelio.

The chart-topping singer revealed on Instagram that she’s teaming up with the viral stars for the premiere of her latest film, This Is The Year. Executive produced by Selena Gomez and directed by her former Wizards of Waverly Place castmate David Henrie, This Is The Year will be the first-ever film to hold a live virtual premiere that fans can attend too!

And best of all?

It’s hosted by Charli and Dixie.

“I’m so excited to finally get to share the event trailer for @thisistheyearfilm on my official YouTube channel,” Selena wrote in an IG caption. “And let you know that David & I are having a live virtual premiere on August 28th hosted by @charlidamelio and @dixiedamelio. Can’t wait to watch the film with you all! ??”

The Rare Beauty founder further elaborates on her decision to turn the premiere into a virtual event in an IGTV posted to the film’s page. “Most premieres are only for a very small select group of people, but not this one,” she says. “We want all of you to watch it with us.”

Director David Henrie explains that not only will fans get to watch the premiere with Selena, himself, and the rest of the cast and crew, but they’ll also get to participate in a live Q&A and watch a live musical performance from Lovelytheband. “Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention, it’s all moderated by Charli and Dixie D’Amelio.”
