With the first day of autumn upon us (did we even have summer?!), now’s the perfect time to freshen up your look. And the easiest way to give yourself an IRL Princess Diaries makeover without breaking the bank? Pull a Mia Thermopolis and change up your signature ‘do.

Scissors had a serious moment in 2019, leaving us with elegant chin-grazing bobs and chic asymmetrical lobs. But now it seems the pendulum’s swinging back the other way.

Cue: The super-long ponytail. Like really, really long.

Okay, so we know this style isn’t exactly ‘new’ — celebs like Ariana Grande, the Kardashians and like, every Instagram baddie on the planet have been sporting long, sleek ponytails for years. But like most trends, this style has evolved over time. From tight and slicked back, to teased and unruly, to ‘I Dream of Jeannie’ vibes, celebrity hairstylists are constantly experimenting with the classic long ponytail.

And now, they’re taking this show-stopping style to new heights and new lengths— swapping out a high ponytail for a low one and adding (literally) meters of length.

Here’s how some of our biggest hair inspos are rocking the super-long low pony this season.

Kylie Jenner

While on vacay with friends this week, Kylie Jenner posted a series of photos wearing the longest ponytail that’s probably ever existed. She wore her new honey blonde tresses slicked back and tied at the nape of her neck. Never one to shy away from a dramatic moment, Kylie opted to braid her insanely long extensions, serving up some Rapunzel realness. Though Kylie can truly rock any look, many fans commented saying they weren’t a fan of the uber-long braid, comparing it to a rat tail.

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian followed in her younger sister’s footsteps this week, stepping out at Paris Fashion Week in a super-long low ponytail. Designed by Chris Appleton, Kimmy’s pin-straight black locks were styled into a deep side part pulled back into a low pony that was so long, it swayed all the way down past her iconic booty! The pony was tied together with a piece of thick brown leather to match her outfit, making it an entirely monochromatic lewk.

Tammy Hembrow

Australia’s fitness queen, Tammy Hembrow, also opted for a super-long low pony at Fashion Week this year. While in Milan for the Philipp Plein show, Tammy wore her signature blonde tresses parted down the middle with a hair wrap to cover the elastic. She finished off the bum-grazing style with wavy edges slicked to the side of her hairline and a fierce graphic winged liner.

Vanessa Hudgens

Celebrity hairstylist Danielle Priano put a laidback twist on the low pony when creating this style on Vanessa Hudgens. Tying her hair back loosely, Danielle parted Vanessa’s grown-out bangs down the middle and left them out to frame her face. She added a slight mermaid wave to the actress’s super-long black tresses to keep it flirty and casual.
