Charli D’Amelio has moved on from her Hype House days.

During an Instagram live yesterday, Hype House co-founder Thomas Petrou spilled some tea about his former friend, saying the TikTok star doesn’t speak to him though he’s attempted to reach out.

Reading out fan questions, Thomas started, “Do I still talk to Charli? Um, no not really. Haven’t talked to her in a minute.”

He went on to say that he saw her “for the first time in a while like a month ago” but “I don’t talk to her”.

“I’ve tried and I’ve reached out I don’t know. I think that people are like— I think [Los Angeles] kind of rots your brain and I think it’s really hard for people especially in her caliber, like with how far she’s gone, to be friends with people,” he said.

Having first joined TikTok in May 2019 at 15-years-old, Charli became the most followed creator on the platform within a year, propelling her to a level of fame and wealth that far transcends the viral space.

While the entire D’Amelio family has since relocated to L.A., Charli and sister Dixie D’Amelio — who joined TikTok in October 2019 — began traveling regularly to the city of angels from their native Connecticut in December 2019 to collaborate with some of the internet’s biggest creators including TikTok’s first content house, The Hype House.

While the girls never officially moved into The Hype House, the collective played an integral role in their early success.

Hesitantly, Thomas then dropped a bombshell during the live. “I’m sure she’s not perfectly okay,” he said of Charli. “I just want her to be okay.”

In a follow-up question, Thomas also said he doesn’t speak with Charli’s on-again-off-again boyfriend Chase “Lil Huddy” Hudson anymore either— a surprising revelation given Thomas and Chase co-founded The Hype House together and were seemingly close friends.

Though Charli and Dixie have attempted to distance themselves from The Hype House (and all its drama!) in recent months, the collective is thriving without the stars, with a Netflix reality show set to release later this year.
