How To Do The Reverse Cat-Eye That’s Trending All Over TikTok

Looking to switch up your glam look?

The reverse cat-eye has entered the chat.

From the runway to the red carpet, this fierce look has been turning heads for years. While Kim Kardashian famously rocked a reverse cat-eye at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016, this look eventually made its way onto the high fashion scene, featuring in Dior and Chanel’s latest AW21 haute couture shows, as ELLE points out.

Now, the trend is exploding once again thanks to a TikTok made by LA-based makeup artist PaintedbySpencer.

In a TikTok that now has over 2.2 million views, Spencer showed fans how to create this sultry look — posing a question to the audience, “Have you tried the reverse cat eye? It’s my favourite”.

When the beat drops, Spencer reveals the final look featuring a smoked out under-eye line that accentuates the inner corners and wings out to the outer corners of the eye.

Behold, the reverse cat-eye.

Due to popular demand, Spencer followed up with a tutorial on TikTok, revealing how surprisingly simple it is to achieve this look.

Step-by-step, here’s Spencer’s “foolproof” guide to the reverse cat-eye:

Step 1: Blend a gray-toned eyeshadow into your crease using a fluffy brush.

Step 2: Take the same shade to the lower lash line with a flat brush, using back-and-forth motions.

Step 3: Closely line your waterline with a gel black eyeliner, extending the inner and outer corners.
