Outer Banks‘ IRL couple have called it quits.
According to a source who spoke to PEOPLE, Madelyn Cline and Chase Stokes broke up “a couple of months ago” after a year of dating.
“Madelyn and Chase are no longer together,” the source told the outlet. “They are trying to work things out privately but broke up a couple of months ago.”
Just last week, celebrity gossip Instagram account Deux Moi posted a blind item hinting at the actors’ split, as well.
The ex-couple, who play love interests Sarah Cameron and John B. Routledge in Netflix’s Outer Banks, confirmed their relationship in July 2020 via Instagram.
“Cats outta the bag ❤️,” Chase wrote under photos of the couple having a beach picnic.
Madelyn commented under Chase’s post, “Topper punching the air rn,” in reference to her OBX character, Sarah, leaving boyfriend Topper to be with Chase’s character, John B. “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up,” she continued.
The two went on to make several red-carpet appearances together over the course of their relationship, bringing in huge ratings for season 2 of OBX as fans couldn’t get enough of both their on and off-screen romance.
Though neither Madelyn nor Chase have confirmed the news, we can’t help but wonder where this will leave Sarah Cameron and John B. next season.
