Mikayla Nogueira Returns To TikTok Following Mascara-Gate With Unbothered Response

Mikayla Nogueira has returned to TikTok amid her mascara review scandal.

One week after the beauty creator angered fans with a shady review of the L’Oréal Telescopic Lift Washable Mascara, Mikayla is back on the platform with a four-part Valentine’s Day makeup tutorial.

“I’m sure we all know why we’ve all gathered here today,” Mikayla teases at the start of the first video followed by a long pause. “It’s the month of love, bitches!”

The TikTok star goes on to share a step-by-step makeup look, failing to address her recent controversy.

On January 24th, Mikayla posted a video in partnership with L’Oréal to promote the brand’s new Telescopic Lift Washable Mascara. The video sparked intense backlash for two main reasons.

First, Mikayla seemed to be intentionally ambiguous about the sponsorship, choosing to stitch an existing review of the mascara as if her own review was native content and only adding TikTok’s “Paid partnership” tag days later.

Second, the creator was accused of wearing false eyelashes in her reveal while claiming she had only used L’Oréal mascara.

Mikayla’s comment section has since been filled with over 74.8K comments, most from fans expressing their disappointment in the creator for lying to her followers.

Her video also inspired countless reviews of the new Telescopic mascara from fans, fellow beauty creators, and unfortunately Jeffree Star.

Others are disappointed in Mikayla for not taking the situation seriously as misleading sponsorships are technically against the law.

Mikayla’s controversial review of the L’Oréal Telescopic Lift Washable Mascara is still live on her account at the time of writing.
