Noah Schnapp is sharing his truth.
The Netflix star and Gen Z TikTok icon came out as gay today on the app.
“When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know’,” he wrote over a video of him lip-syncing to the sound, “You know what it never was? That serious.”
Noah, who plays Will Byers on Stranger Things, confirmed to Variety in July 2022 that his character was gay after fans had speculated about Will’s sexual orientation for years.
“Now that [Will has] gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing. Now it’s 100 percent clear that he is gay and he does love Mike,” Noah said. “But before, it was a slow arc. I think it is done so beautifully, because it’s so easy to make a character just like all of a sudden be gay.”
In the caption of his coming out video, Noah wrote, “I guess I’m more similar to Will than I thought”.
