In this week’s installment of Weird Shit Happening On The Internet, a viral TikTok video has sparked a mass troll from women across Twitter about what “happens” to their skin after their periods.
The prank kicked off after L.A.-based model Dakota Fink uploaded a TikTok video of herself peeling a flesh-coloured face mask off her face. “Throwback to when men didn’t know we had to peel off layers of our skin after our period..,” she wrote on the screen with the caption, “How did they not know this WTF??”
With over 15 million views in two days, Dakota’s viral TikTok has now made its way to Twitter where men are posting about their shock and confusion over “feminine shed”. So of course, women the world over couldn’t resist taking the bait.
Over the past 24 hours, women across the Twitter-sphere have shared satirical stories of the “first time” they peeled as if telling the story of their first period— joking about being bullied for starting to peel “quite young,” talking about how peeling is a “taboo” topic for women, and noting their embarrassment when they “started peeling” at various ages.
The tweets are *chefs kiss,* so bestow your eyes on this Pulitzer-worthy work…
Several renowned skincare gurus have also jumped on board with the joke further fuelling the confusion around period peeling, including beauty expert Tiara Willis who wrote that she peels “every month”.
Other women have jokingly condemned schools and sex education programs for not teaching teens about period peeling.
This genius prank has left users across the internet terribly confused, with men admitting their shock at never hearing of this before and some women questioning if they should believe it as the tweets are so convincing.
Finally the viral content we deserve.
