TikTok Beauty Lovers Are Using Root Spray For Faux Freckles

On the hunt for a new technique to create realistic-looking faux freckles? Well, TikTok beauty lovers may have found the best one yet.

Enter: L’Oréal Magic Retouch Temporary Root Spray.

While L’Oréal’s retouch spray is typically used to cover outgrown roots, TikTok users have found that it can double as a spray for faux freckles. The technique initially made the rounds after @ollierockabilly went viral in 2020 for her faux freckle tutorial.

With faux freckles taking the beauty world by storm over the past couple of years, it is no surprise that the hack started flooding FYPs again last month.

As most beauty lovers choose to draw on fake freckles with eyeshadow or a brow pencil, L’Oréal’s retouch spray hack supposedly offers a quick and easy alternative.

In a video that now has over 1.2 million views, TikTok creator @sydneypurl shared her experience trying the technique. After finishing her makeup, Sydney sprayed the product lightly over her nose, leaving perfectly realistic-looking faux freckles.

“Whoever thought this up is an actual genius,” she went on to say.

But others attempting the trend have not been so successful. After seeing Sydney’s video, TikTok user @annaluizasouza532, tried the hack out for herself, and the result was disappointing.

Attempting the technique multiple times, Anna ended up with brown circles all over her face.

It seems practice makes perfect with this TikTok hack!
