Oh hunny, no.
Actress and Instagram queen Vanessa Hudgens is facing serious backlash after making insensitive remarks about Coronavirus.
During an Instagram live Q&A on March 16th, Vanessa responded to comments that the United States could remain under quarantine well into the summer months. “Yeah, till July sounds like a bunch of bullshit, I’m sorry,” she said. “It’s a virus— I get it, I respect it. But at the same time, like, even if everybody gets it … yeah, people are gonna die. Which is terrible but, like, inevitable?”
As the video made its rounds online, fans were quick to call her out for being disrespectful, uninformed and privileged.
Many are calling Vanessa to be cancelled.
Now, the Spring Breakers star has responded to the backlash in her latest IG stories, claiming her comments were taken out of context.
“So yesterday I did an Instagram live and I realise today that some of my comments are being taken out of context,” she starts. “It’s a crazy time. It’s a crazy, crazy time. And I am at home and in lockdown and that’s what I hope you guys are doing too. In full quarantine and staying safe and sane.”
She finishes by saying she doesn’t take this “situation lightly by any means” and that she is home. “Stay inside y’all.”
Thanks for the tip, girl.
